English In A Snap: A Student's Course Book

The title of the course book is English in a Snap: A Student’s Course
Book. This course book is intended to fulfill the need for the availability of a standard textbook of English as a general course which is used in every study program in IAIN Ponorogo. This course book provides students with a comprehensive and engaging resource that will help them students build a solid foundation in English. It is also tailored to meet their needs. This book offers a
structured and progressive approach to learning English, covering all essential aspects of language acquisition, including grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Each chapter in this course book provides lecturers with examples of instructional sentences in English that can be used as examples as a language of instruction in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. These instruction
sentences function as scaffolding talk, especially for lecturers who are not used to using English in interacting in class. By referring to the English language instruction sentences, the teacher means carrying out the teaching and learning
process in class using English as the language of instruction. In this way, it is hoped that an active and dynamic English language environment will be built, which can also function as very valuable language input for students.

The content and learning experiences presented in each chapter in the course book are organized with the following unit names: 1. Let’s Introduce Oneself; 2. Let’s Describe It; 3. Let’s Make Something; 4. Let’s Make a Phone Call; 5. Let’s Make an Argumentative Essay; 6. Let’s Retell the Events. Each unit is integrated with religious moderation covering national commitment, tolerance, rejecting violence, and accommodating local culture. Each unit consists of six parts starting from let’s find out, let’s listen, let’s speak, let’s read, let’s write and let’s evaluate.

Learning a new language can be challenging, so we have ensured that our explanations are clear, concise, and easy to understand, making complex concepts more accessible. This coursebook also integrates religious moderation values. The
students will encounter religious moderation values which include national commitment, tolerance, non-violence, and acceptance of religious traditions. Moreover, to reinforce the learning, we have included a wide range of exercises, quizzes, and activities that will enhance the students' language skills and keep them engaged.
Overall, this material development research is able to encompass comprehensive English skills and language components, aligning with the interests and needs of students while integrating religious moderation values. The course book exhibits both strengths and weaknesses, it benefits from revisions based on expert evaluations and suggestions. The suggestions for implementation emphasize continuous knowledge expansion for educators, creative teaching approaches, and
the potential for the course book to serve as a prototype for similar educational institutions. Moreover, future research is encouraged to address materials' shortcomings and better cater to students' needs, and the adaptability of the course book for different institutions is highlighted.
